THE MICRO GREENS URBAN FARMING

For Le Paysan Urbain in 2019

THE CONTEXT
  • Le Paysan Urbain is an urban farming structure developing agro-ecological farms. It pays special attention to social and territory aspects, preserving the connection with rural and peri-urban farmers.
  • Le Paysan Urbain grows soil less micro greens in Romainville (93.) Winner of the Pariculteur contest in 2017, the team wishes to establish on the top of the Charonne water tank, in Paris.
THE AIMS
  • Eco designing the Charonne’s farm, taking into consideration the specific construction constraints, as well as the Romainville location.
  • Le Paysan Urbain aims to reduce as much as possible its environmental footprint on every aspect of the micro green lifecycle, from the breeding ground to the packaging and the distribution process.
OUR INTERVENTION
  • Identify the environmental issues of the Romainville micro green lifecycle, and extrapolate the results to the Charonne project.
  • Lay out a plan of eco-design actions over the product’s entire life cycle (material, packaging system, distribution, use, end-of-life), for mid- and long-term perspectives, for both Romainville and Charonne production site.
  • Guide Gobilab all the way through the development to the commercialization: helping to arbitrate between various technical solutions and ways of limiting the environmental impact.
THE RESULTS
  • Official opening in May 2021 of the Charonne farm!
