For Biom Paris in 2016

THE CONTEXT
  • Biom Paris aims to offer a range of innovative everyday objects which are more functional and more respectful of the environment.
  • For their first object, a toilet brush, the brand wished to commit to an eco-design process.
THE OBJECTIVES
  • The first objective of this project was to integrate eco-design to the product development while considering the challenges of a new business.
  • Identify the main contributors to the environmental impacts of the initial toilet brush concept to draw the principal eco-design guidelines.
  • Follow and guide Biom Paris throughout the development of the product so as to help in the decision making and in the implementation of the action plan.
OUR INTERVENTION
  • Identify the environmental issues connected to the toilet brush, in a preventive way ahead of the product development.
  • Explore eco-design strategies with the team of designers selected by Biom Paris.
  • Draft an eco-design action plan for the entire product lifecycle.
  • Guide the industrialisation process.
  • Establish a review of the environmental improvements achieved in the eco-design process.
THE RESULTS
  • Environmental improvements observed for all indicators thanks to a simplified and lighter design and a choice of exemplary materials.
  • Raising awareness for the bbb La Brosse users in terms of best practices for toilet cleaning.
  • A successful crowdfunding campaign for the launch of the brush.
  • Today the brush is sold online and in department stores such as decoration shops. Biom Paris also provides for restaurants, hotels of offices.
